I decided to share my 2019 favorites because in the past, I never shared the products I ended up loving throughout the year (let me know if you want to see a list of products I didn’t like in 2019). As a blogger, it’s my duty to test out the newest beauty, fashion, and report back to you guys. I’m always binging on favorites videos on YouTube because I’m curious to see what others are loving.
2019 was the year of product junkie for me. In the past, I’m always sticking and repurchasing the same products. If an item was gifted to me, I’ll try it but never purchase it. This post is going to be filled with beauty and lifestyle products with a few fashion items sprinkled in.
Everything in this post is shoppable and items marked * were gifted to me by PR companies and brands I’ve worked with this year.
Let’s start with beauty. If you guys have been following me then you know how obsessed I am with beauty products! Whether I’m repurchasing my favorites or trying new items, I’m always down to purchase a beauty item. Over the past few years, beauty trends have been taking over. From sheet masks 50 shades of foundation, to facial tools, I’m sure we have all given into the hype.
1.) Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel
This product has been a game changer for me! Recommended by one of my friends, every time I try to use something else — I always end up going back to this product. It has helped the overall texture of my skin and it’s super gentle! A little pricey, but its so worth it. It’s also concentrated so a little bit goes a long way.
2.) Paula’s Choice Hydrating Gel to Cream Cleanser
When I took a little break from the Dr. Dennis Gross cleanser, I used this one from Paula’s Choice for a little but. I love how the cleanser emulsifies into a milky texture after it’s activated with water.
3.) Paula’s Choice The UnScrub
I’m always looking for exfoliators that are gentle and sometimes they are hard to come by. With my sensitive skin, I try not to use harsh scrubs on my skin as much. This can also be used as a daily cleanser as well.
4.) Clinique Take The Day off Cleansing Balm*
If you’re still using makeup wipes in 2020, you need to change that! It’s allll about the double cleanse these days. This product is a go to in my skincare routine. Whether I’m in a full face of makeup or just a light beat, I’m always using this to remove my makeup. It doesn’t clog your pores, it’s delicate, and it’s not greasy.
5.) Glossier Milky Oil
I’m not going to lie, I didn’t like this product at first. I felt like it was too runny and it didn’t remove my makeup properly. After testing it out, I realized this is a great makeup remover for when you do not have a ton of makeup on or if you want to remove stubborn eye makeup. The ingredients are great and I will purchase this again.
6.) Glossier Solution
Now this is one of my favorite Glossier products. This is a salicylic acid toner with AHA, BHA, and PHA. Solution was really helpful with clearing up my dark spots and improving my skin texture.
7.) Pixi Glow Tonic*
I think Glow Tonic has been everyone’s favorite toner for the past couple of years. Well for one, it’s affordable and two it’s accessible at Target. This is a great exfoliating glycolic toner to help improve skin texture.
8.) Pixi Vitamin C Serum*
This is one of the first products I have used from start to finish and actually enjoyed it. I was having a hard time finding the perfect vitamin c serum and this one was my favorite. I saw consistent results by using this every morning and night.
9.) Pixi DetoxifEYE Patches*
I wake up every morning with puffy under eyes and even though eye patches can be a little gimmicky, but I love these. I love how they are sitting in a bowl of serum an it can be a great substitute for an eye gel/cream.
10.) Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask
I have tried this before but never mentioned it and since I was in Sephora, I decided to try it again. I love a multi use skincare product. This can be used as an overnight mask, moisturizer, and makeup primer. It really helps wake up tired skin and it’s the perfect mask to use on the plane.
11.) Summer Fridays Overtime Mask
Overtime is an exfoliating mask and it smells like a pumpkin spice latte (LOL). I love to use this during the winter months since my skin is always so dry and it helps with congested pores.
12.) Vichy Mineral 89 Eye Gel*
I recently started using this a few months ago but I decided to add this to my 2019 favorites because I have been really enjoying this product. I only use this product in the morning because I believe when using eye gels at night, causes puffiness in the morning (don’t quote me on this).
13.) Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Booster*
Another Vichy product I started using in October and it’s almost gone! I love adding serums to my skincare routine. This daily skin booster is essentially a hyaluronic acid which as a number of benefits for your skin. I use two pumps every morning and night and I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my skin.
14.) Laura Mercier Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation*
At the beginning of the year, I was afforded the opportunity to work with Laura Mercier to promote their new foundation. I have been raving about this foundation ever since. In almost every makeup post on Instagram, the blog, and YouTube, I’m always talking about this foundation. Since the campaign, I have repurchased this foundation two times! It’s perfect for all skin types and I love the skin like finish.
15.) Dior DiorShow Pump N Volume Mascara
In the past, I have been a drugstore mascara girl. If something isn’t worth it, I’m not going to mention it. This has been my new holy grail mascara!! Naturally, I have long & thick lashes, but when I wear this product, it looks like I have on false lashes. All you need is two coats and you’re good to go!
16.) Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara
Another mascara favorite I have been using this year. I love how the wand separates my lashes perfectly and it’s smudge proof!
17.) Supergoop Everyday Face and Body Sunscreen
I’m going to preface this by saying we should be wearing sunscreen EVERYDAY! No matter your skin type, if you’re a woman of color or if it’s gloomy outside. Sunscreen is so important in our skincare routines so if you’re not wearing it in 2019, please wear it in 2020.
I have been on the hunt for the perfect sunscreen for the past few months. Usually my dilemma is that most sunscreens leave a white cast or break me out. This has been my favorite because it doesn’t leave a white cast or break me out — but it also is a great base for your makeup and leaves a nice glow.
18.) Juvia’s Place Shade Stick Foundation*
My good blogging from Azanique Rawl from Lots of Sass, shared her PR package with me and mailed me a couple of shades to try. I’m usually not a fan of stick foundations, but this one is amazing!! I love the coverage and natural finish. I love to use this foundation when I’m having a “no makeup- makeup” day (which is usually most days).
19.) Lapcos Aqua Sheet Mask
As I am getting older, my skin is turning on the dry side. Not sure what that is due to, but we’re gonna roll with it. Sheet masks are perfect to add into your skincare routine since you do not have to wash the product off afterwards, and it’s a great way to add a serum into your routine. I usually leave this mask on for 30-45 mins.
20.) Pixi Rose Oil Blend*
As mentioned above, since my skin has turned over to the dry side, I love incorporating oils into my routine. In my nighttime routine, I have been adding this into my routine to seal in all of my products. It’s really oily when you put it on, but it leaves your skin soft and hydrated.
21.) DevaCurl Wash Day Wonder Slip Detangler
I have very thick 3c/4a hair and detangling it can be a challenge. Detangling is one of my least favorite things to do when it comes to my hair. Using this product has changed my wash day routine. I’ve also noticed that it has helped with getting rid of the product that has built up in my hair over the past week. I highly recommend!!
22.) Virtue Labs Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner*
Virtue Labs reached out to me to send me some products and I have never been spoiled by a brand! They have sent me a ton of products to try and I’m going to be sharing my in depth thoughts in 2020. I have been doing at home silk presses to not only save money, but to give me a chance to try out new products and perfect my routine. The Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner worked perfectly for my thick strands. When doing a silk press, products you wash your hair with is going to play a part in how your blowout turns out.
In 2019, I didn’t do a ton of shopping. I was focusing on shopping out of my closet, and purchasing staple pieces that I can wear all the time. With all of the trends, it’s honestly hard to keep up and I’m in the phase of life where I’m trying to find my personal style again.
1.) Topshop Jamie High Waist Jeans in Black
These are my FAVORITE jeans and I need them in every color! The Jamie jean is so flattering on my body type and I love that they are high waisted. I’m sorry, but we are not wearing mid to low rise denim in 2020. I’m going to be honest and say I have been wearing these jeans almost everyday and I purchased two more pairs of these in the same color. Hey… if it works, it works right?
2.) Topshop Mock Neck Sweater
Mock neck sweaters have been my go to lately and I’m always looking to add more into my wardrobe. I purchased this sweater in the largest size possible so I can have that comfy vibe. The only downside of this sweater is that the mock neck doesn’t stretch, and it can be hard to fit over my head.
3.) Topshop Moto Faux Leather Jacket
I’m just going to have to say that Topshop has been that GIRL for me in 2019. One closet staple is a leather moto jacket. Perfect for fall and winter but you can also wear them over dresses in the summer. Even though it’s faux leather, the quality is amazing and it’s been holding up very well!
4.) Topshop Moto Boyfriend Jeans
Okay this is my last Topshop favorite, but I love a good pair of boyfriend jeans. These are extremely flattering on my body.
5.) Rebecca Minkoff Edie Flap Shoulder Bag
This bag was one of my go to’s for traveling or for everyday use. You can never go wrong with a handbag from Rebecca Minkoff. Trendy styles, affordable, and great quality!
6.) Quay Australia Jezabell Round Sunglasses
I have been lusting over the Ray Ban Flat Round Sunglasses but I didn’t want to pay the price. I thought these were a great alternative.
7.) ASOS Button Down Shirt Dress
I like to use this as a longer shirt to wear to work with jeans. This has been one of my favorite closet staples because it’s super versatile.
8.) MZ Wallace Medium Metro Tote
You guys know how much I rave about my MZ Wallace Tote. I find myself reaching for this bag often and more than my leather goods. If you’re a Longchamp girl, I highly recommend this tote. It’s not the most attractive looking when you see it in the store, but after you style it, it’s actually a cute bag! Highly functional, it’s perfect for travel and running errands!
9.) ASOS Design Buckle pointed mules
Mules have been my go to shoe for the past year now. You can pair them with jeans, dresses, skirts, the list goes on! These have been my favorite shoes to wear to work since they are comfortable and stylish.
10.) A New Day Ribbed Turtleneck
I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only one who HATED turtlenecks as a kid. But now I’m obsessed. Target is perfect for everyday basics at an affordable price. I’m pretty sure I paid less than $15 and I want them in every color possible!
11.) A New Day Pearl Hair clips
I have been obsessed with the hair accessory trend and I finally gotten around to find a pair of pearl hair clips.
12.) Mejuri Curve Hoops*
Ever since I recieved these from Mejuri, I have been wearing them every single day! I have been on the hunt for an everyday hoop and these fit the bill. I love the curved detail which elevates them and doesn’t look like a typical pair of basic hoops.
13.) Carbon 38 Takara Leggings
As I am typing this post, I’m wearing these leggings right now. Pricey, but I have been living in them! I wear them to workout and to run errands in.
14.) Adidas Yung 1 Sneakers
I have been looking for the perfect chunky/dad sneaker for the past couple of years now. I recently found these and I have been wearing them every chance I get. They are super comfortable and perfect for running around town and casual wear. Not the most “attractive” looking, but very functional.
Who doesn’t love a good lifestyle product?? I’m going to be sharing my favorite lifestyle products such as food, home, and supplements.
1.) Olly Nutrition Sleep Gummies
In the new year, I’m going to work on sleeping throughout the night. As of lately, I have been waking up in the middle of the night and regretting it when I have to be at work in the morning. I have incorporated the Olly Sleep Gummies because a lot of people I follow have been raving about them. When I’m traveling or when I moved into my new apartment, I have a hard time sleeping as I’m adjusting into a new place. Taking two of these at night have been really helpful in getting a full night rest.
2.) Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
I started to add powdered collagen into my bulletproof coffee when I started the Keto Diet. Another hyped product and highly recommended, I have noticed an improvement in my hair, skin, and nails.
3.) Barefoot Cozy Chic Robe
I LIVE in a robe when I’m at home. I’m always cold, so I love having that extra layer of warmth. This robe is like walking around in a comfy blanket all day. I just love how soft it is!!
4.) NuWave Brio Air Fryer
Now I don’t own one of these (just yet) but I have been borrowing my brothers and I don’t want to give it back!! I have been using this to make my favorite lemon pepper wings and I love how easy it is. All you have to do is add the food you want to cook, add seasoning, and walk away! No oil is required which makes it healthier.
I hope you guys have enjoyed this post!! I know it’s a long one, but these are the products I have loved in 2019 and will continue to love in 2020! Is there anything on this list you’re looking at trying? What is the best and worst thing you purchased in 2019?? Let’s chat in the comments!
