My Favorite Products for Low Maintenance Hair

My Favorite Products for Low Maintenance Hair

As much as I love my hair, I’m not one to spend a lot of time on it. I like to rely on protective styles, ponytails, and other hair styles that will last a week or more. With my thick, 3c/4a natural hair, I like to do all of my work (wash day, deep conditioning, treatments) once a week. Then throughout the week, I spend no more than 10-15 mins maintaining.

I also think switching over to low maintenance looks have contributed to the overall health and growth of my hair. Luckily with my hair texture, I’m able to go a couple of weeks without washing my hair and I rarely use heat tools.

If you’re anything like me and do not like to spend a ton of time on your hair, you’re not alone. Some of the products I will be sharing will be for all hair types and I will add in a few that I like to use personally for my hair needs.

1.) Hair Oil

I love to use a hair oil on damp hair, to finish off my wash and go’s, and I will apply it to my finger tips to separate my twist outs. This hair oil by Virtue is great because it’s light weight and moisturizes. Keeps my hair looking healthy and hydrated.

2.) Edge Control/Pomade

Pomades are great for all hair types because no matter what, we are all dealing with those pesky fly aways or baby hairs that will not stay in place. This is an essential product for my go to middle part bun.

3.) Scalp Scrub

If you haven’t used a scalp scrub — you are definitely missing out! I have been adding a scalp scrub to my once a week shampooing and it has been a game changer! It helps to get rid of product build up, exfoliate, and treat.

4.) Curl refresher

In order for my curly styles to last past 3 days, I will incorporate some sort of curl refresher. I use this to rehydrate and redefine my curls without weighing them down.

5.) Leave in Conditioner

Essential for all hair types, leave in conditioner is equivalent to the moisturizing step in your skincare routine. A leave in conditioner will the ends of your hair moisturized and healthy.

Yes! I’m not a fan of spending a ton of time on my hair. I’ll rather sleep an extra 20 mins LOL

I need to invest in a scalp scrub, really! I’ve heard they work wonders on many different hair types – and the thought of getting all the different product residues truly scrubbed out of my hair is really appealing. It’s also fun to learn about other hair routines!
